U tom kraju postoje tragovi i veoma rane ilirske, grčke i hrvatske naseljenosti.

Culture preserved in the vineyards
Around three thousand people of Primošten, a city situated between Šibenik and Trogir, can fairly say that they live in a place that is bridged. Namely, during the Turkish invasion in the 1564, the island where Primošten is located was protected by walls and towers and connected with the mainland by a moving bridge. When the Turkish invaders retreated, the bridge was replaced by an embankment, and this little town was named Primošten, a name derived from Croatian word premostiti (to bridge). In this area there are traces of very early Illyrian, Greek and Croatian population.
The residents of Primošten are known to be excellent farmers. In addition to farming, cultivation of vineyards was their main source of income. The harmony of the vine rows, surrounded by stone walls, has already been included in the list of Croatian cultural heritage, and will hopefully be recognized by UNESCO as well. Just in more recent times tourism entered the scene as the main industry.
The proof that, except for apartment accomodation, Primošten takes into account the town arrangement, is winning the prestigious Golden Flower of Europe award in 2007, for horticultural and urban arrangement. The combination of beautiful beaches (Raduča and Mala Raduča) and numerous summer events, such as the hilarious donkey race, is invitation enough.
The members of Cultural Artistic Society of St. George will provide remembering the culture of our ancestors through music, drama, folklore and literary section, while Wine Producers and Olive Growers Association deals with organization of the Mediterranean ethno-festival, and with preservation of indigenous agricultural products.
Our Lady of Loreto – the protector of Primošten
It all started back in 1835 when Marko Prgin dreamed image of Our Lady with baby Jesus, and he had no peace until he borrowed a bracera, gathered people and went to the other shore of the Adriatic – to Loreto. There he found and bought a picture of Our Lady which he dreamed of – a picture in the wood of Virgin Mary with a baby Jesus in her hands, surrounded by two saints that kneel on the side – St. Rok on the right, and on the left St. Nicolo from Bari. As it was painted in dark colors, numerous Primošten families gave their jewelry to make gold and silver frame on the picture that even today serves as a protection of the town and of the locals themselves.
