Active vacation enthusiasts, adrenaline enthusiasts, sailors, couples and hopeless romantics, those in love with nature and in search for silence, those who prefer island products and all of you in search of a perfect destination, come to Pašman
There are at least 7 reasons you should come to Pašman, an island in Zadar archipelago, connected to Ugljan by a bridge in Ždrelac strait, and divided from land by Pašman channel, on some parts only 2 km wide and, according to research, one of the cleanest channels in the Adriatic. This is the first reason for visiting this island.
-
The cleanest channel in the Adriatic
An epithet of the cleanest Pašman channel can thank to strong current that alters every 6 hours. On one side very close to the land, on the other side with a view of Kornati, Pašman has become favourite nautical destination in fast few years. Its underwater is rich with flora and fauna, and its history left a valuable heritage of sunken Roman town and ships that used to trade in te Adriatic, so it is loved by divers as well.
2.The heart of the world
In the middle of Pašman channel, alongside three islets called by the locals Bisage, stands completely surreal mystique Galešnjak, one of only three heart-shaped islands in the world, but the only one which doesn't change its shape. Hopeless romantics and couples in search for an ideal wedding destination will chose exactly this island that symbolises happiness and love.
3. The greenest Dalmatian island
In fragrant Mediterranean vegetation you will sense scents of lavender, rosemary or wild sage. Mediterranean climate developed rich world of flora and fauna, rich vegetation of therapeutic and aromatic herbs, while tradition of olive oil growing is evident from island's olive groves.

Make sure you visit Franciscan monastery of St. Duje in Kraj and Benedictine monastery of St. Kuzma and Damjan on Ćokovac hill, and locality on Otus, where medieval summer residence used to be.
7. Active vacation with a dose of adrenaline
You long for action, take care of your health, you are professional or amateur athlete? Pašman is your destination. Explore it by bike along and across and you won't regret it. THE CEREMONIAL OPENING OF THE FIRST ROMAN THEMATIC PATH IN SPLIT – ROAD SECTION KURTOVIĆI-KLAPAVICE
Today is a special day for Split-Dalmatia County! The first Roman thematic road section in the area of Kurtovići-Klapavice was officially opened at ten thirty in the morning, which initialized the revitalization of this very part of the rich history of Central Dalmatia. The opening ceremony was attended by numerous prominent tourism professionals, travel agencies and media. At the beginning we were all welcomed by Joško Stella, manager of the county’s tourist board. The road passes through the area of Dugopolje and Klis, and both their tourist boards, with the support of the Tourist board of Split - Dalmatia County. The visitors were also greeted by the mayor of Municipality of Dugopolje, Stanko Balić, director of the Tourist Board of Klis, Slavica Caktaš, and manager of the Tourist Board of Dugopolje, Tomislav Balić. The project leader, Lino Ursić, and archaeologist Miroslav Gogala led us through thematic path and invited all of us to join the revealing of gorgeous veils of centuries and talked about how things were in the Province of Dalmatia as far back as the ninth year after Christ!
By visiting this road section, tourists will be able to learn everything about the past and ancient times when the Roman Empire ruled this small but important corner of the world.
With the collapse of the Pannonian-Delmata rebellion in the year 9 AD (bellum Batonianum), the construction of the road network in the Province of Dalmatia was imposed to the Roman Empire as a primary military and security task.
The starting point of this major infrastructure project was Salona, administrative and political center of the province. These were, after all, the first vehicle roads in this area. In less than seven years (14 – 20 AD), agile governor (Legatus Augusti pro praetore) of Roman Dalmatia - Publius Cornelius Dolabella, built five roads through the interior of the province with a total length of more than 550 Roman miles (more than 820 km).
The remains of the ancient communication road found in the region of Kurtovići-Klapavice, (the area of municipalities Klis and Dugopolje), correspond to the basic direction of Roman roads that were leaving Salona over the Klis saddle (Klis - Grlo), stretched along the Dugopolje plateau, and parted in two directions near the hamlet of Kapela. A single highway route continued northwards and to the veteran colony Aequum (Čitluk near Sinj), while the second was directed to the north-east towards the Roman military camp Tilurium (Gardun), that is, the Pons Tiluri (Trilj) crossing on the Cetina River.
The road is nowadays preserved in a length of approximately 1.5 Roman miles (2 km), while its width (originally from 4 to 6m) varies according to the building interventions in this area during the following centuries. This transport route was in use as the vehicle road probably until 7th century and the Great Migration that overwhelmed the former space of Roman Dalmatia.
The ancient main road direction Kurtovići – Klapavice is a first of series of implementations of the archeological tourism project Roman road communications of Central Dalmatia. The project bearer is the Tourist Board of Split - Dalmatia County, while municipalities of Klis and Dugopolje are project partners. Cleaning of the terrain, archaeological supervision and rescue excavations at the monitored site were performed in the period from August to November 2014, followed by further archaeological research in order to collect as much data on this road section.
We warmly welcome this initiative of Split-Dalmatia County, and we strongly believe that this is just the beginning of capital projects in the revival and evaluation of the glorious past of Central Dalmatia and another sumptuous contribution to its rich tourist offer.
Diverse Dalmatia, a destination for outdoor adventurers
Hot spots travel blog
Written by Delmat Bobulo
Dalmatia … the sea, islands and beaches. The majority of people who’ve not yet had a chance to explore Dalmatia perceive it as only as a destination of these exquisite natural beauties. However Dalmatia can offer much more; it is a region and a destination in Croatia that provides an opportunity to enjoy the beautiful natural areas of interlocking rivers, lakes, and mountains.
Dalmatia’s inland, its beautiful karst landscape, which are a part of the Dinaric Alps, is the priceless wealth of the natural and animal worlds. It is one of the last sanctuaries of wildlife in Europe. These unspoiled natural beauties and all its secrets are yet to be discovered.
Dalmatia offers us the opportunity to climb magnificent mountains and enjoy its scents, sounds and colors boasting unforgettable panoramic views. Dalmatian mountains allow us to descend its beautiful calm or wild rivers and canyons and at the same time discover new hiking and biking trails; to sneak inside the mountains and discover its cave world.
It offers the possibility to enjoy the freedom of its wildlife; a flying falcon, the howling of wolves, rock climbing chamois (a type of goat). This blend of sea, islands, shores and wildlife of inland Dalmatia make it a unique, small region of great opportunity and diversity.
Here are my top five favorite hiking trails in Dalmatia. It was very difficult for me to to select just five favorites, but my intention was to show you all of the geographical features of inland Dalmatia through the mountains, and along the coast and islands.
Velebit mountain, the mighty Velebit is the mountain we always marvel and respect, and its southern part, the National Park Paklenica does not deserve anything less than adoration.
Biokovo mountain, always tough, challenging and irresistible from whatever direction is headed towards the St. Jure peak. Biokovo sometimes give you an opportunity to look across the Adriatic Sea to the Apennine Alps of Italy and neighboring countries.
Mosor mountain, the vicinity of the city of Split is one of its comparative advantages, but its diversity and beauty is drawing the attention. It is a sweetheart of all recreational hikers in Dalmatia, while the view of the city of Split and the archipelago of central Dalmatian islands is always amazing.
The island of Brac and its trails, the island of adventure and culture, the island with the highest peak on the Adriatic, Vidova gora. One of our favorite trail starts from the center of the island, from Nerežišće, continuous to the southern slopes and valleys of the island to the cultural gem of the island, monastery and the museum Pustinja Blaca (Blaca Hermitage) ... the path through the history of the Island, pure enjoyment.
Kijevo Kozjak - Kijevo Bat mountain, in Dalmatian inland is the beautiful mountain that offers numerous memorable experiences; enjoying the beautiful trails and nature. Spending some time on Kijevo Bat you will have the opportunity to meet deer on the hiking trail. Arriving at the peak, you will have a wonderful panoramic view of to all major Dalmatian peaks; Dinaric Alps, the highest mountain in Croatia Dinara, the big blue Peruča Lake, and the longest Dalmatian river Cetina.

THE RETURN OF TENNIS TO BOL!
The best sports story of the tourist season – Bol's ITF Futures tournaments!
All ultimate heroes of the white sport began their thorny path at Futures tournaments! Novak Đoković, Rafael Nadal, Croatia's Marin Čilić and many other kings of this noble sport began their path to success precisely at tournaments of this category. And after a rather lengthy 15-year break, from May to September 2015, Bol on the island of Brač - the world-famous tourist resort, will organize the ITF Futures tournaments – Bluesun Cro Circuit for both male and female young tennis players, sponsored by Croatian President Ivo Josipović!
Croatia once again becomes an attractive tennis destination, which represents immeasurable importance and contribution to the extension of the tourist season, and an addition to the value of Croatian sports offerings.
According to the head of the Tourist Board of Bol Markito Marinković, Bol successfully connected two top-notch contents that have always been its trademark. In order to attract an event of such caliber, a small town on an island could only be a place of exceptional tourist potential and recognizable brand.
Therefore, he is extremely pleased with the fact that the potential of the site was timely recognized by the organizers, given that high-quality tennis courts and associated recreational facilities are located only 5 minutes from the hotel room.
This is a great promotion of Bol as a desirable sports destination - in a very short time period, contestants from over 60 countries from Brazil to Australia, achieved 10,000 overnight stays. The Tourist Board of Bol will continue to provide full support to the organizers.
The organizer Felix Lukas and Tennis Club Kaštela
The organizer of this tournament is young Felix Lukas from Kaštela along with the city's tennis club. Lukas, who has extensive experience in organizing such tournaments around the world, pointed out for Croatian Hotspots portal that he has chosen Bol for this tournament because it offers all of the existing infrastructure, i.e. objects that were used for previous tournaments.
The rich tourism potential of Bol as a destination and its incredibly beautiful environment thus perfectly fit into the concept of the tournament, as evidenced by the number of overnight stays, increasing out-board consumption in the pre-season.
The organizer Felix Lukas delivers trophies to the winners.
Tournaments are also held during the early and late season when the weather conditions are ideal, they attract guests, foreign investors, and competitors are happy to extend their stay. One of the famous visitors of this tournament is our well-known tennis player Ivan Dodig, who also gave support to the organization.
He added that more than 20 tournaments will be organized till the end of September, making a total of 5% of the world tournaments in this category. Tourist destination development strategy in off season focused on white sport guarantees inevitable success - tennis is back in Bol!
TOURIST ARRIVALS INCREASE – ANOTHER POSITIVE YEAR FOR TOURISM IN BOL
In addition to these innovations, this year as well Bol achieved growth rates which definitely confirm its status of a strong tourist destination that reflects the strategy of its development, continuously working to improve the offer.
The results speak best for themselves:
August
In August, Bol achieved 170,444 overnight stays, or 26,117 arrivals, which is 8% more than in August 2013 (157,052 overnight stays).
In the first 8 months Bol achieved 431,385 overnight stays, or 69,265 arrivals which is almost 5% more than the same period in 2013 (411,837 overnight stays).
Even the “white sport” could not resist natural beauty of Bol
Do you fancy playing tennis this afternoon?
If you are a fan of this sophisticated sport, you should know that playing tennis and refreshing yourself in Zlatni Rat afterwards is the most valuable gift you can treat yourself with in this off-season. At your disposal there are high quality tennis courts, tennis equipment, friendly staff and top tennis schools. Later on, you can always refresh yourself at one of the paradisiacal beaches or wander under the starry vault of warm autumn sky in one of the excellent restaurants in Bol with spectacular views of the open sea.
Tennis center "Potočine" in Bol had 12 tennis courts in 1984. Today, this is an excellent tennis center with over 20 red clay surface tennis courts surrounded by pine trees. The central position is the center court stadium where many exciting finals took place. For precisely tennis tournaments made Bol famous!
In addition to new visual identity of the destination created this year, Bol can boast of new superb videos, recorded for promotional purposes.
Check out the new promotional video - Bol - symbol of the Adriatic
Bol - primeval beauty of the central Adriatic
One of the most visited and most successful Croatian destinations profiled in recent decades as an absolute mecca for tourists and a place which in its essence sums up virtually all the beauty of Dalmatia. Few locations boast such harmony of architecture, nature and numerous beaches that are so beautiful that the first impression about them is are they real or not!
Bol has many beautiful secluded beaches that are sometimes unfairly overlooked in favor of Zlatni Rat. The best thing is that they are all located only a few minutes from the town center. But Bol has a rich historical and cultural heritage as well, that best reveals itself to the visitor in off season, when one doesn’t have to seek shelter from the heat under the cloak of Zlatni Rat, but is able to explore all the treasures of this island.
Bol - an unusual name for a destinaton, and an interesting paradox. Bol really hurts but when, and only when after the visit, you must leave. But separation doesn’t have to be permanent...
We are waiting for you in Bol!

Top 5 reasons why you should visit Brela after high season
Spend active holidays in Brela
Lungo Mare - The path of vitality
Even though people feel well also during walks through a park or a forest, a stay by the sea awakens positive feelings which are soothing, and the person feels as if he or she had recharged his or her batteries. The sea air contains negative ions and ozone which encourage deep breathing and fill us with life energy.
The promenade along the sea as far as Brela extends from Jakiruša to Berulija is 6.5 km long and, if you feel ready, you can extend it to other towns of the Makarska Riviera.
Regardless whether you walk or ride a bike, a normal physical effort suffices for you health, which is 150 minutes of exercise a week. This is enough for the heart to start working faster.
Recommendation: When you go for a walk, wear comfortable clothing and shoes. Breathe in with full lungs and start! On the first day walk for 30 minutes. For the first 5 minutes warm up walking lightly, and in the past 5 minutes slow down. Fast walking on the first day of exercise should take 10 minutes maximum. Make short steps, bend your arms in the elbows under a 90° angle and keep them at the level of your waist with your shoulders relaxed. Start the walk 3 times a week and then every day. Walk whenever you can. With time slowly increase the duration of your walk until your reach 60 minutes.
You may do the promenade also by Nordic walking. This is an activity that engages almost all large muscles in the body, and it also ensures favourable conditions for the circulatory system operation. Besides, Nordic walking is intended for all ages, so that the activity can be practiced by children, adults and the elderly.
We recommend organised walks 3 times a week with the supervision and a programme of a professional guide!
Hiking trails
Individually or in a group, mountaineering and a walk on Biokovo is a unique experience. However, it is our recommendation that you should take a professional guide by all means. This will contribute to your personal safety, but also reveal many secrets and beauties of this proud mountain.

Educational trail Paths of ancient Berulia
The learning path of the ancient Berulija from Subotišće to the St. Nicholas Church is around 2,700 m long, and it can be completed in about an hour or a little more than that in one direction, depending on the stamina of the visitor.
It is marked with nine learning tables. This is an easy mountain path; its tour lasts for about 1 hour. Of course, just like for any other mountaineering path, you will need firm footwear.
The start of the path is at today’s centre of Brela Gornja, at Subotišće. The path will then take you to the recently deserted Gornja Mala settlement with the old church of Our Lady of Health from the transition of the 17th to the 18th century, old stone houses, barns and wells. Then the path on its right side leaves the Illyrian cemetery called Gomila and the ancient Besedišće settlement, it passes beside the Klešići settlement, the Vodice spring, the Mrkore cave, and thick pine forest of an foreboding name of Dubrava (Grove), up to the St. Nicholas Church (572 m above the sea) from the 14th century – until recently a centuries long patron saint of Brela.
Traces of the past times bear witness at every step: pastures and meadows, “live” spring water, pens and shepherds stalls on the slopes of a tame mountain where sheep, goats, horses, mules and donkeys were grazing. One used to hunt for partridges and rabbits, and since recently for wild boars and chamois. Nowadays in this landscape you can meet nature lovers: hikers, mountaineers, tourists, pupil excursions, groups of pensioners ... The smell of heather, sage, Spanish broom and Dalmatian Laburnum cures the soul, inviting the hikers and lovers of this tame mountain. Birds are nesting and chirping from the trees.
The learning path has many things to show, and even more so to bear witness to the genuine jewel of nature, to the creations of horny hands of its inhabitants attached to their hearth and their permanent battle for subsistence and survival in harmonious coexistence with nature.
Rock climbing site in Brela
For sports climbing you have at your disposal a pretty high rock, offering different routes of medium difficulty, even if there are also easier routes. The slabs which request preciseness and persistence are the main characteristic of this climbing zone. The potential of this rock was discovered by the Austrian climber Christian Hacker who has equipped, together with his friends, almost all the routes. All of them, as well as the other visitors who come to this site, are fascinated with the spectacular view of the sea and the nearby islands of Brač and Hvar. You want to be alone when climbing? This is the cliff for you!
You can get the map with the directions drawn in here or in the office of Brela Tourist Board.
WARNING: Climbing is a dangerous sport and you are doing it at your own risk!

Cycling
It is possible to take a bike ride on the territory of the Makarska Riviera during the entire year due to extraordinarily favourable weather conditions. The coastal area of the Makarska Riviera is around 60 km long and 3 km wide, just at the foothills of the Biokovo mountain.
During the warmer times of the year we recommend that you finish the ride by 10 o’clock in order to spend the warmest part of the day on one of our numerous beaches or enjoying refreshments in a beach bar. A particularly beautiful time for a bicycle ride in Brela and the Makarska Riviera are the autumn and the spring.
A ride along the sea (a less demanding terrain): During the entire time you are most close to the sea. In Brela there is a concrete promenade along the sea suitable for an easy ride. The ride is about 6.5 km long from the Jakiruša to the Berulia area. If you are in a good shape, you may extend your ride across to the neighbouring towns of Baška Voda, Promajna, Bratuš and Krvavica up to Makarska. If you are taking the path along the beach, you will get to an interruption in the path between Brela and Baška Voda of some 200 m that you will have to pass pushing your bike or you will have to climb up beside the Berulia hotel to get to the road toward Baška Voda. The first stage of the path is covered in asphalt providing an easy ride with only a few minor ascensions. The beauty of this track is that almost during the entire time of the ride you have a magnificent view of the sea and the
powerful Biokovo mountain. When you pass Krvavica, the terrain starts there that will most certainly win you over if you like narrow beaten paths with occasional technical difficulties in the form of stones and roots. The configuration of the terrain will leave you breathless with its beauty and you will pass the next two kilometres with ease and will soon find yourself in Makarska. After some rest and sightseeing in Makarska, you can take the same path back.
Apart from the ride along the sea, you can also go for a mountain ride on village and forest paths at the foothills of the Biokovo mountain.

Nautical tourism - Šibenik - Knin county
PARADISE FOR YACHTSMEN
The Šibenik-Knin region is the region with the best intended coast in the Croatian part of Adriatic, whose archipelago today counts 249 islands, islets, cliffs and reefs, among which is also placed one of three maritime national parks of the Republic of Croatia – the Kornati National Park.
The nautical tourism in the Šibenik-Knin region is extremely important at the national level, because the Šibenik region realises a quarter of the total income from nautical tourism in the Republic of Croatia, which makes it the leading nautical region in Croatia.
NAUTICAL PORTS IN THE ŠIBENIK-KNIN REGION
The nautical offer in the Šibenik area consists of 12 marinas and 7 moorings, of the total capacity of 3 480 berths in the sea and 1 320 berths on land.
Besides five marinas – members of ACI, Adriatic Croatia International Club (Jezera, Žut, Piškera, Skradin and Vodice), there are also the marina „Frapa" in Rogoznica, the marina „Kremik" in Primošten, the marina „Danuvius" in Tribunj, two marinas in Šibenik: the „Nautical Center Prgin - NCP" and the marina „Solaris", as well as two marinas on the biggest inhabited island in the Šibenik-Knin region – the island of Murter: the marina „Betina" and the marina „Hramina".
MARINAS WITH THE BLUE FLAG
The Blue flag is a prestige acknowledgment awarded by the International organisation FEE as the proof of the top-quality tourist service, based on clear sea and protected littoral area, as well as on the equipped and organized beaches and marinas. The marinas – the Blue flag holders for 2009 in the Šibenik region are:
• "Frapa" – Rogoznica
• "ACI marina" – Vodice
• "ACI marina" – Jezera
• "Danuvius" – Tribunj
THE CHARTER OFFER
Besides marinas, the basic offer of the nautical tourism in the Šibenik-Knin region includes charter firms, of which there are 82 in this area displaying a rich fleet, where everyone can surely find something for himself.
THE NATIONAL PARK "KORNATI" – PARADISE FOR YACHTSMEN
The Kornati National Park, one of three national parks in the Republic of Croatia to be found on the sea, takes a special place within the Šibenik archipelago. It is located not far away from the island of Murter and it is, concerning life, strongly connected to its inhabitants. The Kornati National Park counts nowadays about 80 islands and islets. The islands of the National park are not inhabited, and there are no sources of drinking water on them. It is possible to visit numerous restaurants on the islands, as well as the marina "Piškera" situated within the borders of the National park.
THE TOWN OF SKRADIN – AN IMPORTANT DESTINATION WITHIN THE NAUTICAL TOURISM
The town of Skradin, situated in the Šibenik hinterland nearby the second national park in the Šibenik-Knin region – the Krka National Park, is especially important for yachtsmen since a marina is located here, and it is the closest one to the famous waterfalls of the river Krka.

European windsurfing Slalom Championship
BOL - CROATIA
August 25- 31, 2014.
The Upcoming European Slalom Championship event is organised by Zoo Station Bol in co-operation with the JK Podstrana and Croatian Windsurfing Association.
About Events
The first event organized by Zoo Station was back in 1999, that was slalom on classic 8 but 1 vs 1 concept. The event was a great success and was very attractive for watching because you have only 2 riders facing each other on the course area and spectators could be part of the action without questioning "what is going on?" In the end the event was really great but for that kind of event you need a great wind to accomplish a successful day with 40 competitors.
The Idea
Basically organizator wants that Zoo Station center becomes a spot on the map of slalom competitions.
Their best choice was to host an IFCA event because the venue is great and so are the conditions, also with such an event we would like to take a step ahead from national events.
On previous events we already had some top riders such as Pierre Mortefon, Finian Maynard, Chris Pressler, Tine Slabe and many more . . .
So the idea was let's try with a continental level and maybe a worlds in the near future.
Mission
Is to have a recognizable event that both competitors and visitors enjoy visiting.
We wish to get a nice feed back from people after their departure with a smile while thinking about the event. We believe that such expressions are the key points of this great sport we all share.
4.Expectations
We look forward to some nice windy days and big battles on the race course during the competition days, including some nice relaxing time on the shore with good music and cold drinks.
5.You're invited because:
You should come and see a great windsurfing destination with breathtaking views, come and be part of it and of course show us your skills.

International donkey race
TISNO - OTOK MURTER
August 09
Međunarodna trka tovarov is an authentic name for international donkey race organized at the main square Rudina every year.
It is undoubtedly one of the biggest and most attractive summer events in this area. This happening became a true spectacle as well as a brand, especially when Tisno donkey association decided to involve tourists into the race. Then it became international.
Beside good entertainment, enormous gastronomic offer and lottery, various cultural and artistic associations participate in this event.
This international event also promotes and saves donkeys, an authentic Dalmatian animal from extinction.

Sutivan is "out of control"
Festival Vanka Regule
July 20 - 27.
We cannot start the story about Sutivan, without mentioning the adrenergic bomb – Vanka Regule (Out of Control) Festival in July, which has attracted attracts all adventure and extreme sports enthusiasts for many years with an unreduced intensity! If you are bold enough, try some of more challenging disciplines, and within this event the film festival of competitive character which has already acquired great reputation is also held.
Vanka Regule Festival, based in the town of Sutivan, is no Olympic games, more of an ad hoc gathering of like-minded individuals looking to have fun, but for the increasing number of funs of this branch of sports it is well worth a visit.
If you opt for more peaceful recreation, we recommend a visit to the Nature Park, the beautiful picnic area which offers something for everyone. It is divided into several zones which together make an interesting whole. It consists of the sports grounds for bowling, basketball, five-a-side football and beach volleyball and lodging for animals, some of which are tame enough to play with. Numerous autochthon plant species and spice herbs used in the restaurant within the Park contribute to the beautiful experience of nature.
There, as well as in other local restaurants and taverns, you will have a chance to taste the far-famed Brač's lamb, homemade cheese and prosciutto, dishes from grill and under the baking lid, various types of soups, seafood, and high-quality homemade wines! Do not leave the island without awarding your palates with some of autochthonous specialties – taste vitalac (a dish made of lamb giblets of distinctive taste), dormouse on grill, Brač's snails and the majestic Hrapoćuša cake!
After refreshing yourselves with fantastic food, you will have enough energy for sightseeing Sutivan's cultural heritage jewels. The whole historical centre of the place is a protected cultural heritage monument, and the list of sights is rather long – the small church of St. John the Baptizer where an interesting primitive figure of fish – the oldest Christian symbol in the red chalk is kept, complex of Ilić and Definis houses, summer residence of Jerolim Kavanjin whose doors are opened for friends only, picturesque mill-windmill on the very coast, and many other!
