But did you know that this area is generally full of lakes, which don\u2019t have roads leading to them, but are great locations for active holidays, hiking and sightseeing?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/imotskenovine.hr\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/09\/modro_jezero_imotski.jpg\" alt=\"Image result for tz imotski\"\/><figcaption> Blue Lake <\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>And best of all, they are surrounded by many sinkholes, hillforts, dry lakes, hills, cascading vineyards and archeological sites &#8211; in other words, a lot of content for nature lovers and historical heritage! Therefore, why not explore the magical world of the Dalmatian hinterland? If you are looking for a great idea for an interesting trip, let our text serve as an inspiration for you!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/live.staticflickr.com\/8117\/8695798224_46fb76423e_b.jpg\" alt=\"Image result for imotski modro jezero\"\/><figcaption> Blue Lake <\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p> Frenchman Frederic Swierczynski reached the bottom of one lake back in 2017 and provided Imotski locals with a historic moment &#8211; with a dive right down to the bottom of the mysterious Red Lake at a depth of 245 metres!  <\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/storage.bljesak.info\/article\/203416\/1280x880\/crvenojezero.jpg\" alt=\"Image result for tz imotski\"\/><figcaption> Red Lake <\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>This venture was not at all without considerable danger, due to a number of significant factors &#8211; first of all, to reach a dive position, it requires considerable mountaineering skills and involves a number of potential dangers &#8211; among other things, gases which we don\u2019t know the behaviour of at certain depths. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed-youtube wp-block-embed is-type-video is-provider-youtube wp-embed-aspect-16-9 wp-has-aspect-ratio\"><div class=\"wp-block-embed__wrapper\">\n<iframe title=\"Discover Imotski\" width=\"840\" height=\"473\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/BicFKSwuw38?feature=oembed&#038;width=840&#038;height=1000&#038;discover=1\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" referrerpolicy=\"strict-origin-when-cross-origin\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe>\n<\/div><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p> But the adrenaline lover from Jacques Cousteau&#8217;s home country didn&#8217;t want to give up &#8211; with the heartfelt help (and the thunderous applause!) of locals, a diving club and mountaineering company who also did a lion&#8217;s share of the work, he solved the mystery which was thousands of years old &#8211; we now know much more about the underwater world of this karst phenomenon, about the organisms living at great depths, sponges, sediment, water&#8230; <\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/i.ytimg.com\/vi\/RFK26rzgGeQ\/maxresdefault.jpg\" alt=\"Image result for imotski modro jezero\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>By the way, the Red Lake is named after the colour of the steep cliffs that surround it, and the people around it are the subject of many legends, especially the one about Gavan\u2019s castle (inquire about it with the hospitable locals!). The mysterious character of the Red Lake is also compounded by the fact that you simply can\u2019t throw a pebble into it &#8211; give it a try and let us know if you succeeded!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/images-cdn.9gag.com\/photo\/aLg3gZM_460s.jpg\" alt=\"Image result for modro jezero\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>The Imotski Tourist Board has posted a four-minute-long promotional video on their YouTube channel, showing the amazing beauty of Imotski\u2019s lakes. In addition to the Imotski Tourist Board, the video is also promoted by the Croatian National Tourist Board and the Split &#8211; Dalmatia County Tourist Board, the promotional video will also be featured at several European tourist film festivals.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/img.locationscout.net\/images\/2016-08\/modro-jezero-blue-lake-croatia_l.jpeg\" alt=\"Image result for modro jezero\"\/><figcaption> Blue Lake <\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>The lakes are as if they have been divided &#8211; while the Red Lake is dark and inaccessible, and most admire it from afar, except for a few true lovers who have decided to tackle it (Frederic claims to have dived into many waters around the world, but the Red Lake completely fascinated him!), the Blue Lake is more \u2018\u2019gentle\u2019\u2019 and is also accessible for swimming.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/gorgonija.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/08\/galipovac3.jpg\" alt=\"Image result for GALIPOVAC\"\/><figcaption>Galipovac<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>Treat yourself to a great break from the classic sea and beach\npackage and bathe in this lake of a truly magical colour, and if you find\nyourself in Imotski when it dries up, play football with the locals at its very\nbottom!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Lesser known, but no less beautiful are Lokvi\u010di\u0107ko Lake (or\nMami\u0107 Lake), Knezovi\u0107 Lake and Galipovac.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/mapio.net\/images-p\/4498784.jpg\" alt=\"Image result for MAMI\u00c4\u0086A JEZERO\"\/><figcaption>Mami\u0107 lake<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>Together with the Imotski field (Imotsko polje) and the opposite Prolo\u0161ko lake, this trefoil of lakes makes a unique whole.
