This year&#8217;s &#8220;Biser mora&#8221; was concluded with a traditional dinner from Bra\u010d \u2013 for the occasion, vintage dishes were made, based on century-old recipes guarded by Grandmothers throughout the island.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/hotspots.net.hr\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/04\/Oto\u010dka-8.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-29639\" src=\"http:\/\/hotspots.net.hr\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/04\/Oto\u010dka-8.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"960\" height=\"720\" srcset=\"https:\/\/croatia-hotspots.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/04\/Oto\u010dka-8.jpg 960w, https:\/\/croatia-hotspots.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/04\/Oto\u010dka-8-300x225.jpg 300w, https:\/\/croatia-hotspots.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/04\/Oto\u010dka-8-768x576.jpg 768w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 960px) 100vw, 960px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Accompanied by traditional singing by klapa Pastura, the dinner was a delight for the palate and the ears of many visitors who enjoyed in this event. More than 300 chefs from 19 countries participated in the competition. \u00a0According to the votes of the international jury of judges, the title of the absolute winner and champion of &#8220;Bisera mora 2018&#8221; was appointed to chef \u010cedomir Trifunovi\u0107 from Montenegro.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/hotspots.net.hr\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/04\/Oto\u010dka-7.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-29638\" src=\"http:\/\/hotspots.net.hr\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/04\/Oto\u010dka-7.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"960\" height=\"720\" srcset=\"https:\/\/croatia-hotspots.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/04\/Oto\u010dka-7.jpg 960w, https:\/\/croatia-hotspots.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/04\/Oto\u010dka-7-300x225.jpg 300w, https:\/\/croatia-hotspots.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/04\/Oto\u010dka-7-768x576.jpg 768w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 960px) 100vw, 960px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>On behalf of the organizer, the trophy was presented by \u017deljko Neven Bremec. It is interesting to point out that an Indian chef and former culinary teacher, Anil Gorver, who took part in the exhibition segment, brought an Indian twist presenting his exotic cuisine.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/hotspots.net.hr\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/04\/Oto\u010dka-99.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-29649\" src=\"http:\/\/hotspots.net.hr\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/04\/Oto\u010dka-99.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"720\" height=\"960\" srcset=\"https:\/\/croatia-hotspots.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/04\/Oto\u010dka-99.jpg 720w, https:\/\/croatia-hotspots.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/04\/Oto\u010dka-99-225x300.jpg 225w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 720px) 100vw, 720px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p><strong>The comeback of vintage dishes on local tables <\/strong><\/p>\n<p>During the beforementioned traditional Bra\u010d dinner, the main goal was to present traditional dishes, brought back to life by the project \u201cOto\u010dka kuhinja Supetar\u201d (Islanders cuisine Supetar).<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/hotspots.net.hr\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/04\/oto\u010dka-4.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-29635\" src=\"http:\/\/hotspots.net.hr\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/04\/oto\u010dka-4.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"960\" height=\"720\" srcset=\"https:\/\/croatia-hotspots.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/04\/oto\u010dka-4.jpg 960w, https:\/\/croatia-hotspots.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/04\/oto\u010dka-4-300x225.jpg 300w, https:\/\/croatia-hotspots.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/04\/oto\u010dka-4-768x576.jpg 768w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 960px) 100vw, 960px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>).\u00a0 Last year, this project received the silver sunflower of Croatian rural tourism in the category &#8220;Traditional Rural Gastronomy&#8221; at the Rural Tourism Congress. The project \u201cOto\u010dka kuhinja Supetar\u201d kicked off 2 years ago, on the initiative of the Tourist Board of Supetar and the Agricultural Cooperative Association Supetar, with the aim of promoting the local gastronomy and giving an incentive for the comeback of traditional islander food to the menus of restaurants on Bra\u010d Island.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/hotspots.net.hr\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/04\/Oto\u010dka-6.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-29637\" src=\"http:\/\/hotspots.net.hr\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/04\/Oto\u010dka-6.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"960\" height=\"720\" srcset=\"https:\/\/croatia-hotspots.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/04\/Oto\u010dka-6.jpg 960w, https:\/\/croatia-hotspots.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/04\/Oto\u010dka-6-300x225.jpg 300w, https:\/\/croatia-hotspots.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/04\/Oto\u010dka-6-768x576.jpg 768w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 960px) 100vw, 960px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Apart from its wonderful nature and other values, Bra\u010d boasts with its special gastronomy as well &#8211; with traditional cuisine making a big comeback to the local menus, it also means that not only tasty, but healthy dishes too will be offered to our visitors.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/hotspots.net.hr\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/04\/Oto\u010dka-3.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-29634\" src=\"http:\/\/hotspots.net.hr\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/04\/Oto\u010dka-3.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"960\" height=\"720\" srcset=\"https:\/\/croatia-hotspots.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/04\/Oto\u010dka-3.jpg 960w, https:\/\/croatia-hotspots.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/04\/Oto\u010dka-3-300x225.jpg 300w, https:\/\/croatia-hotspots.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/04\/Oto\u010dka-3-768x576.jpg 768w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 960px) 100vw, 960px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p><strong>Fine cuisine coupled with fine wine \u2013 \u201cplavac mali\u201c<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Back in the olden days, it all began with horse beans and mangold, hand-picked by hardworking islanders, who used to finish their long days by meals prepared with what the nature and the sea gave them. Todays\u2019 gastronomy of Bra\u010d Island is based on those old roots, but also focused on widely known and high-quality lamb meat. Lamb on a spit, roast lamb, lamb under the \u201cpeka\u201d bell or stewed lamb \u2013 these are just some of the variations for the preparation of this type of meat. Along with lamb, a dish called \u201cvitalac\u201d is one the rise.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/hotspots.net.hr\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/04\/Oto\u010dka-2.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-29633\" src=\"http:\/\/hotspots.net.hr\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/04\/Oto\u010dka-2.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"720\" height=\"960\" srcset=\"https:\/\/croatia-hotspots.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/04\/Oto\u010dka-2.jpg 720w, https:\/\/croatia-hotspots.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/04\/Oto\u010dka-2-225x300.jpg 225w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 720px) 100vw, 720px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>. It is an old-fashioned meal from Bra\u010d, made of lamb or goat intestines, included on the list of Croatian intangible heritage. This list includes a famous cake, called \u201chrapo\u0107u\u0161a\u201d \u2013 its recipe is the best kept secret in the small settlement of Dol on Bra\u010d. Among\u00a0 other islander dishes, we must not forget to mention artichokes with horse beans, sweet-sour liver, thick vegetable minestrone \u201cjota\u201d, mixture of wild cabbage, \u201cpandolete\u201d, \u201cpr\u017eenica\u201d &#8230;and all these spiced solely with olive oil. Make no mistake, these dishes need to \u201cswim\u201d, so be sure to drink a glass of quality wine \u2013 \u00a0a \u201cplavac mali\u201d sort from Bra\u010d.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/hotspots.net.hr\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/04\/Oto\u010dka-91.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-29641\" src=\"http:\/\/hotspots.net.hr\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/04\/Oto\u010dka-91.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"960\" height=\"720\" srcset=\"https:\/\/croatia-hotspots.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/04\/Oto\u010dka-91.jpg 960w, https:\/\/croatia-hotspots.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/04\/Oto\u010dka-91-300x225.jpg 300w, https:\/\/croatia-hotspots.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/04\/Oto\u010dka-91-768x576.jpg 768w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 960px) 100vw, 960px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Supetar settlement is particularly known as a major producer of high quality olive oil, and today it is part of the tourist image and the island brand.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/hotspots.net.hr\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/04\/Oto\u010dka-92.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-29642\" src=\"http:\/\/hotspots.net.hr\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/04\/Oto\u010dka-92.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"720\" height=\"960\" srcset=\"https:\/\/croatia-hotspots.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/04\/Oto\u010dka-92.jpg 720w, https:\/\/croatia-hotspots.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/04\/Oto\u010dka-92-225x300.jpg 225w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 720px) 100vw, 720px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Supetar&#8217;s vintage dishes have not been forgotten \u2013 they are becoming more and more present on the menus of this island\u2019s restaurants, with a facelifted, modernized twist.
