The Mediterranean setting had all the ingredients to make for a spectacular yet very tough swimrun race.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-23062\" src=\"http:\/\/hotspots.net.hr\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/04\/hvar-1.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"771\" height=\"510\" srcset=\"https:\/\/croatia-hotspots.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/04\/hvar-1.jpg 771w, https:\/\/croatia-hotspots.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/04\/hvar-1-300x198.jpg 300w, https:\/\/croatia-hotspots.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/04\/hvar-1-768x508.jpg 768w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 771px) 100vw, 771px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>The 45,5 kilometres long course was a true test, alternating technical trail running with long, challenging stretches of open water swimming in a rough sea.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-23063\" src=\"http:\/\/hotspots.net.hr\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/04\/hvar-2.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"771\" height=\"510\" srcset=\"https:\/\/croatia-hotspots.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/04\/hvar-2.jpg 771w, https:\/\/croatia-hotspots.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/04\/hvar-2-300x198.jpg 300w, https:\/\/croatia-hotspots.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/04\/hvar-2-768x508.jpg 768w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 771px) 100vw, 771px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Reigning swimrun world champions <strong>Daniel Hansson<\/strong> and<strong> Lelle Moberg<\/strong> (SWE), managed to pull off from the leading pack and cross the finish line as the first team after 5 hours 55 minutes 08 seconds, closely followed by four other teams. Just 15 minutes after the leaders, incredible <strong>Annika Ericsson<\/strong> (reigning women\u2019s world champion) and <strong>Stefano Prestinoni<\/strong> (SWE), finished as first mixed team and sixth overall with the time 6:10:57! The first women\u2019s team <strong>Diane Sadik <\/strong>(SUI) and <strong>Charlotte Eriksson<\/strong> (SWE) completed an impressive race and finished 7:37:41.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-23064\" src=\"http:\/\/hotspots.net.hr\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/04\/hvar-3.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"771\" height=\"510\" srcset=\"https:\/\/croatia-hotspots.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/04\/hvar-3.jpg 771w, https:\/\/croatia-hotspots.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/04\/hvar-3-300x198.jpg 300w, https:\/\/croatia-hotspots.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/04\/hvar-3-768x508.jpg 768w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 771px) 100vw, 771px\" \/><\/p>\n<p><em>\u201cThis race is just something else! We have suffered today and nothing was for free. It was really tough for everyone and just an exceptional race. With the strong winds and rough sea, the swims were so hard, we spent so much energy in the water to hold course. But the race course fitted us perfectly, we loved the technical running in the hills. With its rich cultural and historic heritage, ancient olive trees and vineyards, crystal clear waters, limestone rock and varied terrain, surrounded by the fabulous Pakleni islands, Hvar is the perfect destination for a \u00d6TILL\u00d6 swimrun race. There is no doubt that Hvar has lived up to \u00d6TILL\u00d6&#8217;s claim of having unique races in unique places!<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-23066\" src=\"http:\/\/hotspots.net.hr\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/04\/hvar-5.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"771\" height=\"510\" srcset=\"https:\/\/croatia-hotspots.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/04\/hvar-5.jpg 771w, https:\/\/croatia-hotspots.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/04\/hvar-5-300x198.jpg 300w, https:\/\/croatia-hotspots.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/04\/hvar-5-768x508.jpg 768w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 771px) 100vw, 771px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>The 45,5 km race course of <strong>\u00d6TILL\u00d6 Swimrun Hvar<\/strong> was as tough as it gets. The crystal blue sea was agitated by strong winds and the longest swim crossing of 2 900 metres was a true test for all competitors. Just trying to stay on a straight course through the waves and currents, and tackling the cold water for such a long stretch was very difficult.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-23067\" src=\"http:\/\/hotspots.net.hr\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/04\/hvar-6.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"771\" height=\"510\" srcset=\"https:\/\/croatia-hotspots.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/04\/hvar-6.jpg 771w, https:\/\/croatia-hotspots.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/04\/hvar-6-300x198.jpg 300w, https:\/\/croatia-hotspots.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/04\/hvar-6-768x508.jpg 768w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 771px) 100vw, 771px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>A big part of the trail running was on technical trails, with a few tough climbs spicing up the challenge. The need to adjust to running in the hot sun (in your wetsuit) and swimming in the relatively cold water temperature, of around 13-15 degrees, added to the test.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-23068\" src=\"http:\/\/hotspots.net.hr\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/04\/hvar-7.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"480\" height=\"716\" srcset=\"https:\/\/croatia-hotspots.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/04\/hvar-7.jpg 480w, https:\/\/croatia-hotspots.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/04\/hvar-7-201x300.jpg 201w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 480px) 100vw, 480px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Many teams had to struggle to make it in time for the two cut offs. Some had to abandon after the long, cold swim. The top teams pushed each other hard, chasing each other in a tight group all the way to the finish line. The level of competition is mind blowing!<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-23069\" src=\"http:\/\/hotspots.net.hr\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/04\/hvar-8.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"695\" height=\"461\" srcset=\"https:\/\/croatia-hotspots.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/04\/hvar-8.jpg 695w, https:\/\/croatia-hotspots.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/04\/hvar-8-300x199.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 695px) 100vw, 695px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>At all \u00d6TILL\u00d6 swimrun events teams race in pairs. Working wisely with your partner is decisive.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-23070\" src=\"http:\/\/hotspots.net.hr\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/04\/hvar-9.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"708\" height=\"473\" srcset=\"https:\/\/croatia-hotspots.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/04\/hvar-9.jpg 708w, https:\/\/croatia-hotspots.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/04\/hvar-9-300x200.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 708px) 100vw, 708px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Using each other\u2019s strengths will push boundaries.
