A small place named Kolan is situated in the center of Pag, on the rocky ground, protected from the strong Bora wind. Throughout history it was known as the farmers\u2019 place, since its inhabitants engaged almost entirely in agriculture and sheep farming. Nowadays Kolan realizes more and more of its touristic potential each year. Gastronomic, historical and natural facilities you can find here will not leave any of your holiday wishes unfulfilled.<\/p>\n
Ruins on the hills of Gornji Gradac and St. Vitus peak, the remains of Roman villae rusticae and numerous stone walls testify to the continuity of life on these rocks since distant past. The evolution of local life through history is shown by the impressive ethnographic collection of the place of Kolan, which contains objects from everyday life used in household and agriculture. The collection preserves the oldest mold for making cheese in this area, which is another confirmation that this place is rightly called the cradle of Pag cheese. One of the products of the cheese making process is tasty and fusible cottage cheese which is also a must-try! And the local lamb is considered to be the best on the island \u2013 in addition to the skewer, it is prepared in a number of different ways.<\/p>\n
