\n~ Tin Ujevi\u0107<\/em><\/p>\n

Creating his best verse and prose with the
\nancient noble drink, he lauded the divine
\nnectar and, in time, surrendered himself to it
\ncompletely.<\/p>\n

Wine has a distincitive burst of pasion…<\/strong><\/p>\n

With the opening of a new stretch of the Zagreb \u2013 Dubrovnik highway in Vrgorac, Vrgorac is
\nnow remarkably close to Zagreb (4 hours by car), and
\nit could easily be considered part of the greater area
\nof Split owing to the proximity of Split Airport (a 40
\nminute car drive). Until recently, this small town was an
\nisolated place, known but to very few.
\nThe town\u2019s charming location is at the foot of the
\nsouth-eastern part of Matokit (1063 metres). The
\nname it bears evokes its elevated position (Vrhgorac
\nmeans a hilltop).<\/p>\n

The vineyards of Jezera<\/p>\n

The vineyards of Jezera expanded due to the drainage of the \ufb01elds, survived the
\nmost dif\ufb01cult years od Dalmatian history, and have evolved into the largest
\nCroatian vineyard which counts dozens of millions of vine grapes.Vineyards
\nof the \u201cVrgorka\u201d winery and many family farms are a great potential for the
\ndevelopment of winemaking.With traditional plantations of grape; Plavina,
\nCrljenko and Trnjka, white varieties; Zlatarica, Mara\u0161tina and Medna, there
\nare new varieties such as Merlot and Cabarnet. Over the decades the new
\nvarieties adapted and are producing wines of exceptional quality. The labeled
\nbottles of the \u201cVrgorka\u201d winery and many small producers just making their
\nway are there to testify this. A \ufb02owing stream Matica runs through the \ufb01eld,
\nstrengthened by clear springs, and countless \ufb01eld roads connect the vineyards.
\nAn old mill by the Lukavac spring is being redesigned into a tasting room, while
\nthe Vincekovo and Martinje festivities are becoming increasingly important for
\nour southern region. Rowers practice on the Matica preparing for the traditional
\nboat marathon, and the walking and biking trails on the \ufb01eld await new features
\nto make serious steps in the development of wine tourism for their new guests.<\/p>\n

The restaurant \u201cTin\u201d, together with Tin\u2019s tower and stone terrace
\nmakes up a complex representative of the indigenous building in
\nthe old town center at the foot of the Gradina fortress. A variety of
\nspecialities made from locally grown groceries and a selection of
\nquality wines of the \u201cVrgorka\u201d winery, makes this restaurant fell like
\na second home to the people of Vrgorac and their guests.
\nThe story of the wines of Vrgorac starts in the hilly vineyards of
\nexceptional position afoot Mihovil, permeable soils, karst hills of
\nsouthern exposition and mild Mediterranean climate. It develops in
\nthe vineyards of Rastoke, Bunina and Jezera. The traditional varieties
\nof vines grown here produce grapes of universal quality, while the
\nwines are distinctive in identity and specific scents.<\/p>\n

Pila\u0107 winery<\/p>\n

Situated in the immediate vicinity of the Vrgorac winery, they
\nrecently opened their doors to visitors providing a number of sports,
\nrecreational and hospitality facilities. A wine tasting room with a
\ncapacity of eighty seats is an attractive area for tasting quality local
\nproducts as well as wine. An open terrace restaurant of seventy seats,
\nwith a panoramic view of the Rastok \ufb01eld, offers a selected menu for
\na la carte dishes. There is also a coffee bar, an indoor football \ufb01eld, a
\nfully equipped \ufb01tness center and a large bowling area<\/p>\n

GA\u0160PAR WINES
\nAt the beginning of their careers, two young winemakers Dario and Boris Ga\u0161par
\nproduced a comprehensive visual identity. Their love for wine is captured in bottles of
\ndistinctive \ufb02avor and aroma. Next came the awards-silver diplomas at a recognized
\ncroatian winemaker\u2019s manifestation \u201cKutina 2010\u201d for quality red wine \u201cVergolaz\u201d and
\nquality white wine \u201cZlatarica\u201d, as well as an award for design, which won third place.
\nThat same year, one of the best portals in the world \u201cDieline\u201d published a report on
\nthe quality of the Ga\u0161par wine\u2019s design. The creation of the visual identity was inspired
\nby the story of the three kings that came baring gifts for baby Jesus, one of which was
\ncalled Ga\u0161par…<\/p>\n

FRANI\u0106 WINES
\nShaped like a wreath, on top of a hill overlooking the Jezero field of Vrgorac, lies the
\nvillage Vina, with it\u2019s wonderful lookout point on the steep cliffs separating it
\nfrom the field. The family name and their coat of arms as noble as the view from
\nthe belvedere, is what the Frani\u0107\u2019s decided to stem their visual identity from. Goran
\nFrani\u0107, agricultural engeneer and oenologist, as well as the president of winemakers
\nin the municipality, opted for the original varieties Crljenak, Mara\u0161tina and Trnjak.
\nComing into the process of categorization he offered Trnjak, a harmonious wine
\nthat attracts by the \ufb02oral aromas of berries. Frani\u0107 Trnjak is suitable for aging and
\nmaturation, and the harmonious beauty of young Trnjak animates the spirit and
\nhelps create new friendships.<\/p>\n

MATE JELAVI\u0106
\nPodprolog is a picturesque village at the edge of Rastok field, whose hardworking
\npeoplemostly grow wine, fruits and vegetables. Mate Jelavi\u0107 decided to dedicate his
\ntime to wine and friends. He rebuilt the old family house and opened the door to
\nits new life as a tavern. He decorated the walls with old family photos as a tribute
\nto times past and his ancestors, making his tavern just perfect for spending time in
\ngood company…with a glass of wine which he makes respectfully and lovingly.<\/p>\n
