Five "Must see" tourist attractions of Split-Dalmatia County

Croatia is a small country, but rich in natural and cultural-historic values which are revitalised for tourist purposes. Split-Dalmatia County also abounds in attractions, a consequence of turbulent past, but beautiful nature as well. On this area there is a mountain range, with Biokovo as one of the highest mountains in Croatia. It separates continental features of Dalmatian Zagora from Mediterranean beach ambience. Nevertheless, five the most attractive natural and cultural-historic values of Split-Dalmatia County, which have become tourist products, are Diocletian's Palace in Split, ancient Salona in Solin, Golden Cape beach in Bol on the island of Brač, Paklinski islands near Hvar and Blue Cave on Biševo islet near Komiža on the island of Vis.

Split – Diocletian's Palace

At the very heart of Split there is Diocletian’s Palace, one of the best preserved Roman buildings in the world. Former emperor's palace was built as a combination of luxury villa and Roman military camp, divided into four parts with two main streets. This rectangular building had four towers at its corners, four smaller towers on the walls and gates on each side. During centuries, Diocletian’s Palace was restored, and in its cellars today various cultural manifestations are held. Although today's appearance is different from the original one, its contours are still visible and is therefore one of the most interesting buildings of this type in the world.

Solin – ancient Salona

All Dalmatian towns had turbulent history since the ancient times. In today's Solin, only six kilometres from Split, there are remains of ancient town Salona. It was a metropolis of Roman province Dalmatia. At first, it was a costal stronghold and a harbour of Illyrian Delmats. In history, first mention of Salona dates back to 119 year BC, in times of wars between Illyrians and Romans. Today this archaeological site attracts visitors, primarily with remains of former arena and amphitheatre, palace and baths.

Bol – Golden Cape

One of the most beautiful beaches in the world is the Golden Cape, a beach in Bol on the island of Brač. It is also a kind of a natural monument and one of the biggest and the most beautiful natural attractions of the Adriatic. The Cape stretches out 400 metres into the sea, and it emerged by stacking of small stones from Vidova gora hill, which is the highest peak on Adriatic islands. An interesting fact is that, depending on the waves and sea currents, the top of the Golden Cape is constantly changing. Therefore, not rarely the beach can turn to other side during your sunbathing.

Hvar – Paklinski islands

In front of Hvar town there is a group of about twenty islets and rocks – Paklinski islands. People from Hvar call them also Hvar’s islands. They are interesting because, luckily, contemporary tourist change hasn’t touched them yet, so the nature is incredible. This beautiful archipelago is the place for divers because in its underwater there are various species of fish, shells and other sea organisms. Jerolim, Stipanska, Ždrilca, Vlaka and Palmižana are popular tourist excursion points on Paklinski islands..

Jerolim – named after a missing church in late 15th century. There is also famous and traditional Hvar’s naturist beach.

Stipanska – one part is also intended for naturists, equipped with showers and a restaurant.

Ždrilca – a wooded bay with secluded places for relaxed sea and sunbathing.

Vlaka – a village with a church dedicated to St. Clement and a traditional excursion point of Hvar people.

Palmižana – the most famous Hvar’s excursion point with nautical marina, especially interesting for boaters.

Biševo – Blue Cave

On the east side of Biševo islet, not far from Komiža place, there is a natural phenomenon Blue Cave. Through artificially expanded small opening, the cave can be entered with small boats with paddles, so tourists can visit this extraordinary cave. Another opening is under sea surface through which sunlight penetrates and reflects on the cave walls. This way it gets blue colour, while everything in the sea water becomes silvery. Due to all this, Blue Cave is world-famous tourist attraction. The colour of the sea becomes the most interesting around noon, when he sunlight reflects in its interior the most.

These are only some of numerous attractions and possibilities offered by Split-Dalmatia County, destination that is becoming increasingly significant, not only on national, but on a world tourist map as well.

10 Reasons why Split is one of the hottest City Break destinations in the World

City break tourism is becoming increasingly more popular in Europe and across the globe. Guests spend mostly 3 or 4 days in a destination, usually by arranging their own flights & accommodation or as part of various travel packages offered by travel agencies.

Reasons for the popularity of this form of vacation are logical - it does not require too much money and time, it does not need the sun, yet it offers a break from a busy daily routine. Along the extremely popular world megacities, our own towns & cities have proven themselves as exceptionally attractive destinations for city break tourism, which is in constant growth.

Split, the champion-city of Croatian tourism in 2017, originated from the summer palace of the Roman Emperor Diocletian - one of the best preserved and most impressive Roman-era monuments in Europe. The city’s historical center was made part of the UNESCO World Heritage List in 1979.
Split is a true city break destination, attracting an increasing number of tourists from all over the world year after year. Its unique blend of historical and contemporary features, where the 1700-year-old heritage meet the energetic and irresistible pulse of modern living, creates an almost nowhere-else-to-be-seen seductive invitation for world wonderers. More and more foreign media and bloggers decide to dive into the energies of the World's new must-visit city break destination.

Distinguish yourself as a true city break traveler? Come and take a stroll along the attractions of this “it” city break destination!

In summer months, it becomes crowded with tourists armed with cameras and selfie sticks, particularly at noon, when the changing of Diocletian’s Guard takes place. Visit the unique Vestibule, just a few steps away from the Peristyle - an attraction with amazing acoustics, where traditional Dalmatian a cappella singing by “klapa” ensembles will delight your ears.

Enter the cathedral of Saint Dujam (Saint Dominus) - the former mausoleum of Emperor Diocletian, a brutal persecutor of Christians, which became a cathedral in the 7th century, with sacred altars including relics of Saint Dujam and Saint Stašo (Saint Anastasius), martyrs executed in nearby town of Solin.

After a walk through Diocletian's Palace, you will reach People’s Square or, as the locals call it, “Pjaca”. This is the spot where Split’s social life took place in the Middle Ages. Bonus place to visit on Pjaca- the Gothic City Hall.

2. “Riva” – Split’s longest runway
Diocletian's Palace is filled with must-see attractions, but the sun-bathed Promenade of Split or simply, “Riva”, is a modern-day symbol of the city, adored by the locals as their fav meeting zone. After swimming and playing, if the weather served you well, kick back and relax in one of the numerous local lounge bars along the beach.

Rare are the ones who come to Split and do not climb up to the most well-known view point on Marjan or “vidilica”, to capture the most glorious view of the city, the harbor, and the nearby islands. Oh, and to make as many selfies as possible.

6.Visit Jupiter’s Temple
Walking through Diocletian's Palace, you will arrive to Jupiter's Temple - dedicated to god Jupiter, the main deity of the ancient Romans. It was built at the end of the 3rd century, in parallel with the construction of the Emperor's Palace, and already in the 6th century, it was converted into a baptistery devoted to Saint John the Baptist. Bonus trivia - the Sphinx at the very entrance of the temple was delivered directly from Egypt, under the orders of the mighty Diocletian.

Hvar -Croatian tourist pearl celebrates 150th anniversary of organized tourism!

The town of Hvar is going to dedicate the entire next year to celebrating grand 150th anniversary of organized tourism

ACCORDING TO EMINENT WORLD TRAVEL PORTALS, there is no world trendsetter who never wanted to visit this glamorous destination! Our domestic Saint Tropez attracts the attention of global media year after year, and it has been put in travel itineraries of world elite – from Hollywood A-listers to members of British royal family!

Almost every respected travel magazine has published a short guide about what to see and visit on Hvar; and we will tell you a secret – if you visit it in 2018, all the chances are you will feel – like a true celebrity! Namely, this is the year when Hvar celebrates a century and a half of tourist tradition, so on this occasion it decided to present itself in a special glow.

Accordingly, it put wild partying to an end with a specially organized campaign – at last, this occasion should be welcomed with dignity! – and like a true destination with strong cultural identity, it made sure that quality contents – are in abundance!

Hvar has always been a pearl of Croatian tourist offer, recognized for its UNESCO locality and intangible heritage, natural beauties and other specificities, and has always been positioned among top 5 destinations on a tourist map of Croatia. Positive tourist trends continue this year as well, and 150th anniversary of Hvar's tourism is going to be, for many, an additional motif or a new motivation for a visit.

IT HAS COME A LONG WAY since 15 May 1868, when in Hvar Hygienic Association was established. Central festivity of the grand anniversary, symbolically scheduled around this date, will last for even 5 days, while all the events (formal session of Hvar Tourist Board and a special programme on St. Stephen’s square, with gala concert and a reception) are going to have an international character.

During this anniversary year, all attractive Hvar’s locations will open their doors, so seize the opportunity and enjoy in almost kaleidoscopic range of contents!

Take a look at renovated historical Arsenal building with the oldest public theatre in Europe, enjoy in numerous exhibitions (like the one about history of tourism, exhibition of old postcards and photos, Orson Welles in Hvar, Hvar in a Film and others), book promotions and traditional manifestations.

There are some other anniversaries as well: 160 years of Hvar meteorological station, one of the oldest in Europe, 160 years of birth of dactyloscopy inventor – Ivan Vučeetić; so we can freely say that these kind of anniversaries can be found – nowhere else in the world!

CHOOSE ACCOMMODATION OF ROYAL GLOW. Hvar didn’t set aside visual experience – on the contrary! – so with the finishing of waterfront extension for 45 metres, as well as walking path on the west side of town, it is planning reconstruction of some of its most attractive hotels! We believe that with the greatest pleasure you will stay at the Palace Hotel, which will reach its 5th star, first in Hvar. The richness and the beauty of Ston’s history and culture in the promotional movie “History on the grain of salt”.

Historical promotional movie "History on the grain of salt" represents the richness and beauty of Ston’s history and culture, and the past and present of this place artistically intertwined. In the center of the story is the Ston saltwork which dominates the town, and the life has been revolving around it for centuries. But that's not all. The film also features a story of delicious oysters, old olive groves, the magic of wine, as well as the mystics of ancient, 5.5 kilometers long city walls, intertwining history, flavors and scents of Ston with their irresistible charm.

Precisely these beautiful walls offer magnificient views of pools in Ston’s saltwork, where salt is traditionally produced even today. Old customs, such as washing fabrics and children's plays, are replaced by continuous play of the cadres and shadows in order to authentically evoke the blend of history and contemporaneity.

In the tourist movie “We live it. You will love it! Visit Ston” visitors meet the town in a charming way.

In the tourist movie “We live it. You will love it! Visit Ston” visitors and everybody else who wants to experience this wonderful Croatian place, get to know its five main attractions: salt, city walls, oysters, wine and olive trees.

An added emotion is provided by traditional music that extends throughout the film, played on “ljerica”, the authentic musical instrument of the area. Delicious food, unique wine, oysters, salt fields, sound of ljerica and reflection of the sunlight... will surely attract everybody to visit this historic place.

Both films were presented in Ston on February 7th.

Visit dalmatian "El Camino de Santiago"

Worshippers will set off on the pilgrimage route to the Miraculous Madonna of Sinj on marked paths through picturesque landscapes rich with historical heritage. On their spiritual path to the heavenly mother they will pass relics of old paths and bridges, forts, tombstones, sacred places and buildings, and museums.

The Image of the Miraculous Madonna of Sinj was brought from Rama to Sinj in 1687 by the Franciscans who fled from the Turks. Ever since, the faithful people have been coming to their saviour who, according to the legend, has defended them when they were greatly outnumbered by the enemy in 1715.

Every year thousands of worshipers, especially the youth, set off on a pilgrimage towards the city of Sinj. The event takes place on the nights of the holiday dedicated to Our Lady of Sinj – from August 8th until August 15th, when the central ceremony is held. Accompanied by the sounds of church bells ringing and fanfares, the Image of the Miraculous Madonna of Sinj is brought from the church onto the streets for a grand procession. To carry the Image on one's shoulder represents a great honour.

karta

Worshippers arrive from several directions, mostly from the south, from Solin, and from the north, from Bosnia and Herzegovina. Our Lady of Sinj Route is 148km long spanning from Solin – Sinj – Livno – Tomislavgrad – Rama. It is a pilgrimage used through centuries to travel from several different directions to the largest Madonna sanctuary in southern Croatia. Our Lady of Sinj Route project is approved within the IPA Croatia – Bosnia and Herzegovina project and relies on the traditional walking and riding paths, as well as the abandoned route of Rera, which was once Sinj's railway.

staza_gospi_sinjskoj

By developing the accompanying infrastructure and raising awareness of immense value of cultural and religious heritage, the Our Lady of Sinj route is slowly superseding local frames and is gaining an international dimension. The route is active throughout the whole year, not just in the period of the holiday.

It is a unique experience to set on an ancient religious journey by foot, away from the hustle and bustle of the city, to find peace and sanctuary in the safety of Our Lady of Sinj.

STON – HISTORY ON A GRAIN OF SALT FOR BRIGHTER FUTURE!

FACTORS OF TOURIST ATTRACTION. When you have one of the rarest preserved fortification systems that is believed to be the longest wall in Europe, and the second longest in the world (after the Chinese Wall, of course!), wouldn't it be a shame not to make it one of the strongest advantages of your tourist offer?

This is precisely the way leading men of Ston tourism feel, who decided not only to renew their heritage, but to complement it with new programs and contents. This way results of the fight against the biggest problem of national tourism – seasonality, wouldn't be only partial. For a sharp tourist eye there is no doubt here – potential of Ston is too big to keep presenting the sun and the sea as main tourist products, in the presence of impressive walls and wine and gastronomic luxury!

The extent and diversity of this project, called History on a grain of salt, is proven by the colours of its logo, on which every colour symbolizes a specific piece of tourist attraction of this destination (green colour, for example, represents Napoleon' Road and green surfaces, cultural heritage is represented by blue colour, gastronomy with yellow, wine making with dark red and tourism by pink).

Value of this project has been recognized and supported by European funds, while local experts dived into business with a lot of enthusiasm.

Because of this, by March 2019 Veliki Kaštio and Koruna forts should shine in their full glow again, as well as Komarda park and a stretch of south wall of Ston Walls. Ston lapidarium will be renewed, Ston part of Napoleon Road expanded and ''Pelješac – wine empire'' theme road will be upgraded. Furthermore, this valuable cultural heritage will be additionally spiced up with sophisticated wine and gastro offer and special programs.

When we add to all this attractive marketing tools – from city light and Internet advertising, to international tourist  fairs and extremely popular social networks – the fastest promotors of attractive destinations, it is clear that Ston has recruited all its tourist  forces and that discouraging figures of only 42 days of utilization of local accommodation capacity per year – will soon be forgotten!.

EMBLEMAITC INGREDIENT. In order to become truly recognizable destination and present its guests local history and culture in an interesting way, Ston has, being aware that worthy heritage is not sufficient by itself, decided to breath in - a grain of life! To accomplish this, it used its emblematic factor x, an ingredient that has played a vital role in the history of this destination – and this is, of course, its remarkable salt, so precious in ancient time it was called white gold!

Thus, salt plays the main role in wisely designed program for visitors – Cum grano salis, which can be seen twice a week from June to September. Without any doubt, all those who are interested in presentation of production, harvesting and transportation of salt, building an impressive protection system and artfulness of Dubrovnik's merchants who traded with salt all over the world, will participate in this dramatic interpretation in intriguing ambience of Veliki Kaštio fort, located at the side of Ston Saltworks!

VERSATILE EXPERIENCE. Those who enjoy cultural heritage will attend, with the same amount of interest, another program closely tied to fortification system – night ambience-theatrical (!) tour of Ston sights. Innovative and detail tour of Ston Walls, which includes Veliki Kaštio, Koruna and Podzvizd forts, intriguing locations as Rector's Palace, Bishop's Palace, Main Guard, Placa and cathedral, famous saltworks and dramatized presentation of shellfish farming, is with a good reason called – Secrets of Ston!

Namely, this tour generously offers all its little-known events, legends and hidden places. Before the eyes of even 60 visitors real and fictional characters will come to life, presenting history and former life of this destination – from late antiquity, Nemanjić dynasty and Kotromanić ban, to ties with Dubrovnik Republic.

And as icing on the cake, visitors will be offered traditional delicious refreshment as well as a performance of local cultural association. When we see how much effort and contents have been put into this program, we want to ''teleport'' ourselves to Ston, at least three times a week, and enjoy in this – to eyes, ears and palates – truly pleasant and versatile experience.

STREGHTENING OF CAPACITIES. Ston's determination not to let anything happen by chance, is shown by the effort in educating workers in cultural and tourist sector, and two public debates for wider public whose goal is raising awareness about the importance and potential of cultural heritage. Education for tourist workers is going to be held as carefully designed workshops, which will cover everything – from Ston history and its legends and stories (which will, we believe, be more than familiar to kind Ston's hosts, after they have listened all the lectures) to communication skills and using modern technology in presentation of cultural heritage and presentation skills in serving food and drink! Awareness of the fact that quality offer reaches to local man as a subject in tourism is a strong advantage of this truly ambitious and promising project.

LIKE TRUE NOBLEMEN. Ston attractions in combination with renewable resources, kind, skilful and informed hosts and creative ways of presentation sound more irresistible than ever. When you are able to be proud of specific atmosphere of  a Medieval town, walls fortified with forts and towers, the oldest – and still active! – saltworks in entire Europe, refreshing oysters (which conquered even the greatest conqueror – Napoleon!), one of the most renowned wine varieties (legendary Plavac mali), tourist tour that offers the best of the best ; and you manage to wrap it all up in super attractive tourist product…all the chances are that your guests will feel like – true noblemen!

Our impression is that leading men of Ston's tourism were aiming g exactly at this, and to tourist public of the world, it is precisely creative and highly individualised approach to guests what matters the most, together with original and authentic contents. Ston has a trump up its sleeve in all the mentioned categories, so all we can do is wish it a great tourist future!

DALMATIAN ZAGORA  – THE NEWLY DISCOVERED ENTERTAINMENT, ACTIVE VACATIONS AND ATTRACTIONS EMPIRE!

Dinara_Biking_1

THE FLOURISHING OF TOURISM. The leading people of Dalmatian tourism have realised long ago that Dalmatian Zagora is the undiscovered gem of the region – and rolled up their sleeves!

They introduced a new concept of bycicle routes to this intriguing area of beautiful pristine nature, bringing local specialties to their guests' tables, and moving klapa and sophisticated blues sounds to the town sqares. Apart from the tastily decorated apartments, they welcomed their guests in the increasingly popular luxury homes with swimming pools, and all in all, offered a top-notch service. Read our article and find out why precisely Dalmatian hinterland, tucked away behind the buzz of Split, caught our attention – join us in visiting Dugopolje, Klis, Vrlika, Sinj and Trilj!

Foto Z 1

  1. UNIQUE GASTRO EXPERIENCE. Understandably, when it comes to their visit to Dugopolje, gastronomads will firstly choose the treats for the palate! And is there a better idea, than the prosciutto that won numerous local gastronomic contests? The specific taste and the uniform reddish color of the champion delicacy creatively named Smjeli (eng. The Brave) are the result of the strong Dalmatian bura associated with mild exposure to smoke and drying in a natural way.

Check out why this prosciutto won so many gastronomic golden plate awards, and should you prefer some other trophies – the sports ones! – you shouldn't be dissapointed as well! Dugopolje offers a handful of tournaments and races where you can have loads of fun as a spectator or even as a participant!

Photo Ante Gašpar_1

On June 11, don't miss the Dugopolje Grand Prix - 3rd international road bicycle race organized by cycling club "Marjan" from Split, as well as athletic race at 21 km – the 2nd in the row Dugopolje semi-marathon in September! The fans of the bocce ball tournaments will be thrilled with the 2nd International Bocce Tournament Koprivno 2017, organized by the bocce club „Sokol“ from Dugopolje, while lovers of American football will gladly visit Growth of a game camp (4. – 06.08.). Not a sports fan? You can go shopping at the outlet stores of the Podi Economic Zone, or see the truly wonderful natural phenomenon – Vranjača Cave!

2. THE THRILLS OF TRILJ. A new attraction for lovers of sophisticated music proves that Dalmatian hinterland has a truly quality tourism offer. Thrill Blues Festival (July 14) at the Trilj city park is an epitome of a well-known Latin proverb: nomen est omen – according to the lineup, it sure will be quite exciting! Trilj and Sinj blues forces – „DBLUZ“ and „Ozone“, Eric Sardinas & Big Motor from LA, "Black Mountain" from Kotor, Rijeka's guitarist Hal known all over the world, and the  „Sunnysiders“ - band of the artistic director of the festival - musician Boris Hrepić Hrepo, guarantee a top portion of blues!

But, the Trilj novelties do not end here - in June there is also opening of the reconstructed Stari most (eng. Old bridge), the former iron bridge whose construction began in 1878 under the watchful eye of the emperor Franjo Josip I., and the launch of the Cetina beaches project is also expected! If you visit this intriguing place, expect some legendary attractions – both tasty ones (Days of Komin, Pura and Brozin, Gastronomic Folk Festival – July 27) and those to suit all tastes (the indispensable Feast of St. Mihovil, September 29).

Druga strana sve.cdr

There is also a number of possibilities for lovers of nature, adventure and adrenaline (from QUAD adventure, much-adored rafting, kayaking and canoe safari on Cetina river, to the great bicycle tours that will bring you closer to the 600 years old watermills - Grabske mlinice, Kamešnica mountain and Village of Voštane!).

3. WELL-KNOWN BRANDS OF KLIS – THE TASTIEST LAMB DISHES... AND GAME OF THRONES! No fan of the planetary popular „Game of Thrones“ series, would fail to recognize in Klis one of its most emblematic filming locations – the ancient Meereen! Resorceful guides of the „Game of Thrones“ thematic tour will make sure that you don't miss a single detail relevant to the series, and the rocky building located on the very tip of the abrupt and from all sides inaccessible gorge between Mosor and Kozjak, will reward you with a magnificent view of Split and Dalmatia!

The authentic impression of old times can be best experienced during the scenic spectacle „Battle for Klis“ (end of July), but this is merely the only event worth visiting - enjoy the performances and concerts of the Klis Cultural Summer, especially the traditional multipart (klapa) singing! You will soon discover why Klis is much-adored by gastronomads (try its traditional dishes like top-quality lamb, uljenak, lentils, octopus and beans stew!), and by adrenaline enthusiasts too – it hosts two attractive cycling races - the Grebbening and the XCM Atrium spring trophy!

4. VRLIKA – THE PLACE OF THE MOST BELOVED OPERA HERO... AND OF THE TASTIEST FRIED PASTRY IN THE WORLD! The picturesque Vrlika, marked by the mountain, the Cetina River and Lake Peruča, has managed to unite such peculiarities in a relatively small space! It is much loved for its numerous active vacation possibilities - biking, riding, jeep safaris, canoeing, kayaking, rowing, hiking, trekking, hunting and fishing – and it will be especially exciting in June for its unique two-day bike tournament - Camping & Biking Vrlika 2017!

vrlička nošnja muški_1

Neither the lovers of sightseeing will be dissapointed here – they will be interested in taking a tour of the Church of St. Salvation (Cro. Sv. Spas) with the oldest bell tower in Croatia (9th century), the archaeological site of Koljani and the Česma from the time of Emperor Franjo Josip. Precisely this is a place of staging the famous „Ero from another world“ opera every July, about a cunning serf who manages to outwit two Turks. This opera over time became a trademark of Vrlika and its ambassador around the world, and it is an incredible experience to watch it in its natural environment! The same goes for the impressive Vrlika silent circle dance, a part of the UNESCO's intangible cultural heritage, but also for the - traditional fried pastry (uštipci)! Do not miss the International fried pastry competition in August, and make some pleasant gastronomic memories! An excellent choice of all these attractions will be available to you during the The evening of Singing, Dancing and Folk Costumes (July 22), while the town atmosphere is definitely most cheerful on October 7 (the Day of the City and the Feast of Our Lady of Rosary).

5. SINJ – HEADING TO HEROIC CITY THIS SUMMER TOO. Sinj is simply irresistible - both to the eye and ear, to the heart and soul – and to the palate too! The city which had ice cream on its menus back in 1838, enchants its visitors with the sophisticated blend of the Mediterranean, Oriental and continental cuisine – and not just gastronomads!

Who could resist the famous arambaše, or delicacies like fried frogs, freshwater crabs buzara, cetina trout, paired with Sinj wines – hrvaština and maraština? And, what is even better, these specialties are the tastiest part of the most celebrated and beloved Sinj manifestations, hugely visited despite the unbearable summer heat – the Sinj Alka and the feast day of Our Lady!

DSC_1331

Although for most people these two events are a reason enough to visit this truly special city, many of them also want to take a tour of the Museum of the Sinj Alka, and during the rehearsals preceding the main competition, the city has about 40,000 visitors! Those looking for meditation and peace will gladly visit the Sanctuary of Our Lady of Sinj as well as new thematic trail towards Our Lady's city. It is hard to believe that the quiet and traditional Sinj has a wild adrenaline side, but there you can also go horseback riding, paragliding, enjoy the attractive biking routes or go for a QUAD adventure!

The city also has a sports aerodrome, visited by numerous sailors, sky divers and modellers. There is also a number of competitons – from the „City Challenge“ and „Cetina Adventure“ race (June 3), to the 5th „To the source of Cetina“ („Do izvora Cetine“) bycicle race (June 11), National Sailing Championship (July 2-9), Sinj Air Show (August 19) and the Traditional International Galloping Races in September.

Sinj thought also of music lovers – they will surely enjoy SARS - Alternative Culture Festival (July 21 and 22) and Gljevstock on June 3 - a festival of music, love and socializing! And for July 7, the heroic city has prepared a real treat - the sophisticated rhythms of top musicians - the Sudar Percussion ensemble!

Still in doubt that Dalmatian Zagora can be really exciting? Summer 2017 is a great opportunity to give it a chance to prove you're wrong!

3. CHARIOTS OF FIRE ON GOLDEN CAPE! That Bol goes hand in hand with art, elegance and beauty is proven by numerous beauty contests and fashion photo-sessions held there, and many show-business artists recognized it as an ideal scenography for their videos.

World famous 2Cellos decided to make Golden Cape a great background for their interpretation of the song Chariots of Fire – a theme from the same-named movie, based on a true story of two athletes who, wishing to overcome prejudice and strengthen their beliefs, competed on Olympic Games 1924.

Only a few minutes walk from Golden Cape beach, in the Elaphusa Hotel, another music treat will be held outside high season – Bol Soul Festival (7 – 14 October, 2017) is a real thing for music enthusiasts and those who will become ones!

4. YOU LIKE A GOOD DROP? DISCOVER WINE MAGICC! To really understand how Bol people discovered some kind of wine magic, we have to go back to 1903, when wine from Stina winery in the very centre of the place got its first medal in International Wine Exhibition in Paris!

Hard work of locals is woven into distinctive taste of these wines that ripen in sunny wine yards – many of which are located on very scarce, inaccessible land, which nevertheless gives some of most luxurious wine varieties.

Enjoy in sweet, mild and creamy taste of prošek, abundant bouquet of red and black fruits of plavac mali or bold fruity richness of pošip; and all these wines have already been awarded on international competitions!

5. SEARCH FOR A GRAIN OF ADRENALINE...ON THE SEA AND THE LAND! Bol has good news for those who enjoy in recreation even during the summer. Thanks to ideal atmosphere conditions and steady west wind – maestral, there you can do kiteboarding and windsurfing, and if you prefer sea depths, explore underwater beauties of Bol waters with help of some of diving clubs that offer diving courses and programmes both for beginners and professionals.

To somewhat braver guests we recommend to try to tackle with praised cycling roads and enjoy in a ride with crickets call, romantic bells from local churches and scents of Mediterranean herbs!

7. BOL CULTURAL SUMMER – SOMETHING FOR EVERYONE! Bol's Summer Nights which are held every Wednesday, theatre shows in Taetrin, night of debut klapas (acappela singing) when klapas for Omiš Klapa Festival are being chosen, Names Festival that unites word, images, sounds, acting and – good food, music-creative festival for the young Graffiti on the gradele (Graffitti on grill)…are only some of wide choice of events in Bol among which everyone can find something for themselves.

While watching materials of these manifestations, one lovely graffiti brought a smile on our face -  “Brač on Bo”# – it is a piece of street wisdom which once again showed that Bol is the island's centre of beauty and exclusivity.
